NYC -> BOS
This past week I went home. Although, I’ve (finally?) come to realize that Lexington is no longer my home but merely the place I grew up. I had this constant “wow, I’m too old for this” feeling everywhere I went. I feel like I’ve reached this really big life milestone, yet it just makes me feel sad. Sometimes I think I am too preoccupied with reminiscing and missing the past. That place just isn’t the same without your peeps! And even with your peeps, there’s just something a little off.
So now when I go home, I just hang out with my dad and sister and just try not to be seen by anyone else. I welome the hermit life with open arms (claws?).
Via living la vida hermit, I was able to (over)indulge myself with a few things like…
DIYs

I’m still on my safety pin kick.
The top gold and pink safety pin necklace is for my friend Yanelis from BG. The 2nd is for me, or anyone who’d want to buy it I suppose.

SHOPPING $PREE 2012 !!1!
No but really, I could die in a craft store and I know I would have lived a fulfilled life.

I don’t just buy string to line up and take instagrams of, that’s just part of it. I also made mad friendship bracelets… usually while watching The OC season 1 for the millionth time. This picture only shows about half of them. Man, I am prolific.
Side note: if you want one (for real) I’d love to make you one, friendship permitting (no randoms, y’all).
Food
Salmon! Blueberry pancakes! Coffee! Bagels! Fruit! Things that I don’t eat because I don’t know how to cook them and/or don’t know where they are located in Trader Joe’s!
Harvard
Alec is this year’s 25th Reunion $tudent Coordinator (he is making bank at this gig), so I got to see some of the reunion events first hand. All the reunions are almost entirely student run and everyone is on some kind of “crew”. It felt very similar to Star Island, Alec would have totally been on cute crew.

Alec registering someone last minute, oh and this “someone” was just the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, casual. Look how official he looks!

When all the day’s work was over, we hit up John Harvard’s Brew House again for some quality microbrewed beer.
‘
Cheesin’ for the camera, thanks to Frances for this pic
Later we hit up Market for some food. Funny because when I heard people at Bergdorf’s say, “we’re going to market” it meant buyers were going to a vendor’s showroom to look at samples to figure out what to buy for the store’s selection. At Harvard, it means people are drunk and/or hungry. Either way, you know something productive is about to happen.
My Family
Have you read Thought Catalog’s article I Miss My Mom and Dad by Ryan O’Connell? Read it and you’ll understand how my perspective and relationship has changed with my dad over the past few years. As for my sister, we’ve always been tizight, although it’s nice to fight less now… especially because Athena is physically stronger than me.
Like I said, I hung out with my dad a lot this week. He worked from home instead of going to the office so we had long leisurely meals on our porch in the sun.

The Devil Dad Wears Prada
He found my new shades

I even extended my stay just so I could (forcibly) cut my sister’s rapunzel locks.
THEY WERE OUT OF CONTROL. For the occasion, she donned a japanese bathrobe (note: NOT a kimono, as explicitly stated by her several times). Pictured is her, post-haircut working it for the camera.

OMG SISTERHOOD!!1!
Also, here is tangible proof of what I mean when I tell people “my sister is just like me, but like, more white”

But alas, now it is time to go back to New York, which right now feels the most like “home”, besides New Hampshire (NH4LYFE - future license plate? I could be down with that).
